NBA Lowers the Boom on Hornets Coach who Made Concussion Comment
The NBA has fined New Orleans Hornets Coach Monty Williams $25,000 for publicly criticizing the league’s concussion policy.
Williams’ comments came after Hornets center Anthony Davis, the league’s No. 1 draft pick, missed a game for evaluation purposes after taking an elbow to the head from teammate Austin Rivers.
‘‘Now, they treat everybody like they have white gloves and pink drawers and it’s getting old,” Williams told the media. “It’s just the way the league is now.’’ Williams continued: ‘‘It’s a man’s game. They’re treating these guys like they’re 5 years old. He desperately wanted to come (to Chicago), but he couldn’t make it.’’
