A middle school teacher in North Carolina has resigned after allegedly hitting one of her students in the back of the head with a dodge ball during gym class, causing a concussion.
Reportedly, the teacher at East Montgomery Middle School asked the student to stand up and explain the rules of dodge ball to his fellow students.
As the student began “stuttering and mumbling” during his explanation, the teacher reportedly told him to stop before picking up a dodge ball and hitting him in the back of the head with it, causing what authorities deemed a “slight concussion.”
The teacher resigned and Montgomery County Schools issued the following statement: “All inappropriate behavior is handled according to board policy and/or applicable laws. Please know that our district’s top priority is to ensure a safe environment for all students.”
