Former High School Football Player Sues over Concussion, Other Injuries

Tyler Alt, a former football player at Greensburg Central Catholic High School (Pa.), has sued the Diocese of Greensburg, claiming he suffered injuries, including a concussion, after he was knocked down by an assistant coach during the summer of 2011.

Alt, who filed suit in Westmoreland County, alleged that he suffered a traumatic brain injury, concussion and cuts on his face when he was struck by Dante Parker, who was not named as a defendant in the suit.

The plaintiff ultimately left Greensburg Central Catholic and transferred to Quaker Valley High School in Allegheny County, where he graduated in 2012.

Now a center on the Elon University football team in Alamance County, N.C., Alt claimed that he suffered an asthma attack that August during running drills. After he went to the locker room, Parker allegedly followed him and warned him: “Don’t ever do it again … I’ll run you till you die.”

Later that day, the two men allegedly got into an argument, and Parker struck Alt in the face, causing a concussion.
