The Village Voice recently examined the NFL concussion settlement and the impact the suits that have come in the aftermath of that settlement could have.
The article quoted Timothy Epstein, a sports law attorney in Chicago and adjunct professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
“If you have enough critical mass, you can derail that settlement,” Epsetin said. “All these other lawsuits that are popping up, what they’re saying is, ‘This settlement is not going to fairly compensate my client. We think we can get a better deal.’ If enough of those get filed, it could convince the judge to say, ‘This is not good enough; you have to try again.'”
