Wes Welker Should Retire – Now

I know it may unseemly to tell someone what they should do.

But Wes Welker, if you return to professional football any time in the next two years, it will be too soon.

You suffered your third concussion in 10 months. That’s a lot for a player in his 30s.

And just in case you didn’t know, the latest research is demonstrating that even though the symptoms of a concussion have dissipated, the brain is still healing and you’ll still be susceptible, more susceptible, perhaps to catastrophic concussion.

So when the Broncos are in the middle of a playoff race this fall, and everyone knows that you could be a difference-maker at the wide receiver position, remember one very important thing – it’s not worth it.
