Should the Washington Redskins have waited to clear Robert Griffin III, who suffered a concussion in an exhibition game on August 20?
Head Coach Jay Gruden said his quarterback “was cleared for non-contact drills for Sunday’s practice and is showing no effects of a concussion, though he still will see a neurosurgeon and go through the entire league concussion protocol.”
That date with the neurosurgeon is today.
It has become common knowledge in medical circles that just because an athlete exhibits no “signs” of a concussion it does not mean he or she is sufficiently healed. Complicated matters is the fact that athletes each recover differently from concussions.
